My brother has replaced the fan in my PC now I believe three time in the last year. Does anyone know why these would keep going out? I start to notice things like a different window would come up so I call him and he says the temperature is too hot like maybe 180 and that it could burn up the mother board. I turn it off most of the time when I am asleep. Thanks for any help.

Sam, this isn't good. I can't think of why a fan would burn out so often other than possibly it's not compatible with the system, or that the power supply is not sending the correct voltage. I guess the conductivity of the conductors from the power supply to the fan could also be suspect.
You might try replacing the connectors to the fan, then the powersupply, and maybe try a different fan manufacturer.
Generating excess heat is a bad thing though, and the only thing worse is constantly getting very hot, then getting cool, causing an "expand/contract" sequence that could damage any of the components in your system.
good luck

I agree ,with crescen7, wrong voltage ,probably due to other components (transformer)in the power supply.I don't know how much you paid for a new fan , but I paid $15 for a new power supply .I have Compaq product. It might be wise to get a new one ,because if the voltage is wrong on the fan , it might be wrong on the mother board as well.Make sure that the "vent" behind your pc isn't blocked.
