I needed more hard drive space to save my dvd movies so I took out a 6 gigabyte hard drive and put in 80 gigabytes the hard drive has no problem with the dvd movies except when it comes to defragmenting and running scandisk for windows 98 I have 128 megabytes of ram don't know if I should install more memory or have the bios settings adjusted or vice a versa. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.

A few things you can do...
You can install the Defrag program from a WinME machine. This utility program will run on Win98SE and it is a bit faster and less "finicky". Just rename your old defragment program (defrag.exe) to defrag.old, then put the ME defrag.exe program file into the same folder. The file is usually in the C:\Windows folder.

Another good option is to buy another defrag program. One that I have used and liked is "Diskeeper". You can donwload a trial version and you can read a program review.

Diskeeper Review

Download Trial Version

Before Scandisk/Defragging, it helps to empty your Temporary Internet Files cache and remove .tmp files. This just reduces the number of files the defrag/scandisk have to deal with.

I hope something here will help!
