My HP LaserJet of late has left the page with a white stripe down it on the left side. Does this mean the toner is out? I took the cartridge out and shook it and that helped for a bit, now it's doing it again. It is marked "January, 2000."
Where's the cheapest place to buy these things?
Thanks for all help.

With some systems you can open the printer and gently shake the toner cartridge to evenly spread the toner so that it will print correctly.
You can go to the http://www.hp.com Website and then into the technical support section (Support & Drivers link). Put in your printer model number and go to the troubleshooting section for assistance with opening the printer and accessing the toner cartridge.
If Wal-Mart, Sam's Club, or Cosco carries your printer cartridge they would probably have the best prices. Office Max or Office Depot would likely carry your model's cartridge at slightly higher prices.
Thank you, Dwight. I didn't have any trouble accessing the cartridge; you just open the front and jerk it out. I'll keep shaking it to try to finish my print job.
Found a site - megatoners.com - where I can get a "remanufactured" (in other words, refilled)cartridge for $23 and change. I'll try that, and if not satisfied, I'll go the $49 bucks for the new one.
