Hi all, I'm getting DSL here shortly through Ntelos, my dialup provider, to try for 30 days at 768k. Any suggestions or advice on it? I already have Zone Alarm, and Norton AV 2002, so they arent a problem. Also have Ad Aware 6 and Spybot, just in case. LOL Just thought I'd ask in case there's some ideas out there I hadnt considered. Thanks!

Hmm, seem ok to go for me... That's all I use basically, a firewall, a virus scanner to scan of course, and ad aware.

One of the biggest advantages of DSL is not having to worry about those nasty little diallers that can sometime get installed, ( as long as you have disconnected your 56k modem of course!)

However, these programs still can get installed and can use a lot of CPU processing time.

download the following to stop most malware from getting into your p.c. in the first place:

Spywareblaster & Spywareguard.

Update them once a week for new variants found

Also ensure that you have all the critical updates available installed. You'll find it much easier on DSL if the files are large

It turns out I cannot get DSL in my area, even though the phone company says its available. They say I have electronics on my line that are incompatible with DSL. Therefore, I downloaded Proxyconn accelerator from the Yahoo mail page, (it was in an ad there), and it works better than I could have hoped for. I get speeds thru email and IE of up to 200k, which is sufficient for my needs.
