Hi all, I have an older laptop here, made by Texas Instruments, that I'd like to find as much original info on as I can, including drivers for Win95, which I have installed.Originally, it had Win 3.1. It has a built in modem, but it doesnt show up at all in Windows in order to get any kind of ID on it. I have been to the Texas Instruments website, and the Acer website, which now has TI info, and neither has anything from this far back. The following is the info I have on this laptop:
TI Travelmate 4000E 486 WinDX2/50MHZ Active Matrix Color S/N: 04734400764 P/N: 9792601-0001 FCC ID: A92DX250E Modem: 14.4k, I would guess. Win95 version 4.00.950B IE 3.0
I would really like to know what kind of modem this thing has, even though I cant do much online with one that slow. I would also like to find any info I can on how to upgrade this laptop, or if its even possible, as I cant find anything helpful on Google about it. Anyone have any ideas, or know of any sites that deal with long discontinued laptops, upgrading them, and drivers for them? Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

If you can get it online, do you think it can be checked over by the Belarc Advisor scan? and it may give you a better idea of the internal setup? www.belarc.com/free_download.html (605k) Says on the site can be used by IE3/Netscape 3 upwards(How old is that? ) and Windows 95 upwards

bedstor, I've tried the Belarc Advisor, it didnt help much I'm afraid, said there wasnt a modem attached. I even managed to try Everest Home edition, same thing tho.

There is 1 way of looking for the modem properties Have you tried look in System Information left hand pane(System Summary)>Components>Modem? this lists the modem model and set up settings (factory?) Working from latest version but the older version layout maybe similar? Also down the same "Tree" click the Internet Settings> Internet Explorer>Connectivity This shows the Modem user settings as set up in Internet Explorer by the software /personal settings Hope this is of some help?
