My keyboard gets so dirty. What is the best way to clean the dirt out from in between the keys? I have used a qtip dipped in plain water and that works ok. Is there any cleaning stuff I can use on the keys without ruining it? (409, windex etc..) What do you use to clean your keyboard? I don't want to rub all the letters off. (I still look down at the keys when I type. LOL Roll Eyes)

Hello again Clarebear:

Do you have any kind of Cleaner that you clean your 3 1/2-inch Diskettes or CD-R Diskettes with. That will work to clean your KeyBoard.

Also, you might look into the possibility of buying a plastic cover to put over your keyboard. I have one & it does wonders to keep the keyboard clean.

That is a great idea about the keyboard cover!

Thanks Don! Smile

Well, I've heard rubbing alcohol recommended for cleaning mouse balls - so, have to think that it may also be good in this area of cleaning.

You can buy "canned air" to blow the dust out of the area between the keys. Wal-Mart usually has this product at good prices. It is usually found in the computer section.

Also, keyboards are not very expensive and are easy to change. At some point you may wish to just replace the keyboard with a new one.

Clarebear:

The solution I have in my Cleaner for the Diskettes is:

Fluorocarbon, Isopropyl Alcohol

So I would assume that ordinary Alcohol that you buy from the drugstore would do the trick. I smelled mine & that is what it smells like.

Please think about buying a kit to clean your Diskettes & Keyboard. They are not expensive.

Update:

I bought some disk cleaner and canned air. I cleaned my keyboard and it looks new again. (It does smell like alcohol)

Now that it is clean I'm gonna buy a cover!

Thank You all so much for such great advice. Smile

Or try this

Memorex Spillproof Keyboard

or

this take a little getting used to but,

Virtually Indistrucytable keyboard

except for the cord area it can be completely dipped in water for complete cleaning. And no gaps to collect dust. Small version available also.

And cleaning products are not a one time use cuz dust always collects. So one these might be cheaper in the long run.
