I have a very old (Compaq Deskpro EN) (NLX P2)]. It is a Compaq, it was just missing the HD, RAM, and PROCESSOR.
So I can't tell what kind it is or the model form that method. And I cant boot-up cuz it says (1782 Disk Controller Faliure).
How else can I tell the model of the unit or MB? My MOM improperly shut it down and now it won't boot even if I switch IDE cables.
But it was working for a few weeks so it can't die that fast. SO maybe a BIOS change. But I have to identify it first. Maybe somebody knows a list of all the (NLX P2) systems Compaq had?

ivnj ==================================================== 05-08-03, 10:47 PM ivnj Nobody's seen this model before?
ivnj ==================================================== 05-08-03, 11:33 PM ivnj It's some kinda
Compaq Deskpro EN SFF
but still not sure about the exact model?
And ideas for the above Picture link.
ivnj ==================================================== 05-09-03, 12:05 AM ivnj I think the model# is 314280-001 after a tad more invvestigation. Now how do I find out what model of Deskpro EN SFF that is?
ivnj ==================================================== 05-09-03, 04:12 PM JWooden271 Hmmmmm.... Google & ATW only had 1 result for that model number: A site that was selling the machine - no specs, just the fact that it is a compaq.
However, Doing a search on the error code (1782) yielded:
I hope this helps a little. ==================================================== 05-09-03, 04:44 PM ivnj Godd links, THNKS but nothing helps. The FloppyDD doesn't eve work. But did U spot where to download the Diagnostics Program they keep mentioning?
ivnj ==================================================== 05-09-03, 05:06 PM ivnj Fdd and Keyboard are working so maybe I can run the Diagnostics thing after all. But I still need a link to download it.
ivnj ==================================================== 05-09-03, 05:31 PM bedstor My comp had 2 overheating crashes while attempting to reply to this topic Mad 3rd time lucky? Roll Eyes Have a peek at the motherboard and find the make and model (will be in big letters somewhere prominent) Knowing this info may let you search for components that will fit & work? May end up with a "Mongrel" machine but it'll be a runner? Maybe a better spec than the original? ==================================================== 05-09-03, 06:10 PM JWooden271 Check in your BIOS, you know, when it says "Press SomeKey for Setup" ==================================================== 05-09-03, 09:30 PM ivnj I cant even reach the BIOS. So I baught a PCI IDE card to bypas the onboard IDE ports. Cross your fingers.
ivnj ==================================================== 05-09-03, 10:14 PM ivnj I think it's a bad HD. But I'll keep everybody posted. Anyway thanks 4 all the help guys.
