I don't do any gaming. Just e-mail, internet. Would like to be able to watch streaming Netflix video occaisonally.

Will this basic inexpensive pc ($299 on sale)have enough resources when I have all the extra processes removed? 58 processes I heard.
DSL connection: 3008 Kbps (downstream)
512 Kbps (upstream)

Thank you

It should work fine for your needs. Just don't try running 3d games on it.

If you find that you want more RAM, it'll cost $25 and ten minutes of your time*, for an extra 1GB stick. Your system can handle a maximum of 2GB (1GB per slot X 2 slots) of RAM.

* Basic RAM installation: 1. Unscrew and slide off case 2. Insert new RAM into slot adjacent to existing RAM. 3. Close the case 4. Done. (Should take less than 10 minutes. Three if you've done it before.)

Thanks again for generous answer. Above and beyond type info.

If I buy a dual core processer does that mean I need to buy 2 memories?
I discovered how easy when I watched a techie install my memory once. He charged $7 bucks.
Best buy charges $39 iirc.

No The dual core or any multicore for that matter uses the Same RAM as a Conventional Processor
My board can take 4GB RAM yet I'm using 1GB, and I'm using a single core chip Had a chance of a Dual core(same number) for a slightly higher price But there is no difference in performance RAM would have remained the same
