What does it mean when you are installing an all-in-one 'printer, copy, and scanner' and it says that you don't have enough (RAM) memory? The old scanner and copier are already un-installed. Could it be because the computer is a 98 Compaq and the all-in-one is a Hewlett Packard? Do I need to un-install something else before I SCREAM?

You could scream Honi...or you can go out and buy more memory Big Grin

Basically what you are installing takes up more space and uses more resources than you have available on your hard-drive. Right click on your C drive and select properties. This will tell you how much free space you have on your hard-drive. Then read your printer specifications to see how much free space you need.

Chances are, with that older computer, you're going to end up having to buy more memory. I could be wrong but this at least gives you something to look into while you wait for better answers Wink

Honilov, sounds like it is memory you lack!
Being an older computer, chances are its SD RAM you need, probably a DIMM module.
This site deals in memory upgrades, you will be able to locate your model of computer and find out exactly which modules are compatible. Then shop around for a better deal.

Thanks Georgia and Cap'n.
Georgia, it seems like I got lots of memory. The picture shows a lot and the numbers are 1,386,524,672 bytes. Confused Roll Eyes

Cap'n, do you mean I've got to buy something or it's something that I can download? Confused
I'm going back to your links again and see if I'm understanding. This is difficult for me.

Honilov, I doubt that you have over a gigabyte of memory in the Compaq -- more likely, this is the amount of free disk space.

To determine the available memory, right-click My Computer and click Properties. The amount of RAM recognized by Windows is listed on the General and Performance pages.

The amount of free memory is a little more difficult to get at. Click Start, Run, type Sysmon and press Enter. Click Edit, Add Item, Memory Manager, Unused physical memory, and OK.
