You can most likely get faxes with your computer now fax modems are very common and you can receive faxes if you have a broadband connection, but you need the approiate software you windows disc should have it
My Windows (disk) has already been installed. Wouldn't the software have been installed with it? How do I find out if it's there, what do I look for? That was my question.

fax support was included in Windows 95, then went away in Windows 98, and Me. I don't think it made a return in XP - but I could be mistaken.
You'll need some additional software to fax in Windows. There are some web based fax services; I think "Efax" is one of them. You can send faxes for free - but they charge you to receive. It's cool though - you get a fax number, and it's cheaper than an added phone line.
Try searching google for "efax" or "internet fax"

Hello Catty - If a fax was preinstalled at the factory you should be able to find it's icon on your printer page...(My Computer/Printers)
Mine is shown as "Quicklink III". I've never used it as I've not been able to determine whether it works through my ISP or direct phone line. Even my ISP wasn't sure.
Should anyone out there have any info. of this, Please, let me know... I'm using HP, Windows98SE.

Thank you TomGL2...I've saved that PDF file. Now, how do I tell whether this will work as part of my ISP connection or will come through as a separate charge on my phone bill? I understand it can go either way depending on the fax program but can find no information about this aspect of it.
