I recently received this H.P. 2410 PSC photosmart all-in-one printer-fax-scanner-copier machine as a replacement for another H.P. Machine that went belly-up.
My question:
It worked fine for about three months & then it failed to install properly.
I have been able to get it to print, however, I can not seem to bring up the H.P. Director. The H.P. Director is needed to perform several test on the machine.
Anyone out there familiar with this problem & know of a solution to bring up the H.P. Director.
BTW: I have been in touch with H.P. now since Jan 31, 2004. They keep stalling me about providing a resolution to this problem. I have been in contact with a fellow named Aubin. I gave him all the information about my machine.
He keeps telling me that I need the assistance from an H.P.Technical Support representative, which he has relayed my condition to, however I never seem to get an answer from the representative.

I assume that you've tried uninstalling, then reinstalling the software (Hp Director). If that isn't helping, I would assume that the uninstall is not removing either some temporary files left over from the original install, or some snippet in the Windows Registry.
I suggest you do a search for *.tmp files and remove all the files with that extension. Are you familiar with the Registry Editor? If so, you can look for the
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Hewlett-Packard and HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Hewlett-Packard
keys and remove any referring the H.P. 2410 PSC printer. Of course, first make a backup that you can restore should problems result.

Well, we can't even get it installed, the hp director, at all. For me, it says Only part of a readprocess, or writeprocess something could be completed.

I am so sorry that it has taken so long to get back to you with my replies.
In the meantime I have had to reformat my Hard Disk at least three time because I kept getting a Blue Screen of Death & the only way I could get rid of it was to reformat my Hard Disk.
I tried everything I could think of to get Windows to reboot after I got the BS of D. & nothing seem to help.
In answer to your questions:
1.) I assume that you've tried uninstalling, then reinstalling the CD-ROM Printer Software.
Don's Reply: I have unintalled & reinstalled the printer Software several time. This did not help.
The program would only install about 20% & then quit.
2.) If that isn't helping, I would assume that the uninstall is not removing either some temporary files left over from the original install
Don's Reply: I delete all my *.TMP files each time I boot up to Windows
3.) or some snippet in the Windows Registry. I suggest you do a search for *.tmp files and remove all the files with that extension. Are you familiar with the Registry Editor? If so, you can look for the
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Hewlett-Packard and HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Hewlett-Packard keys and remove any referring the H.P. 2410 PSC printer.
Don's Reply: I have removed all references to:
H_KEY_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HEWLETT-PACKARD and HKEY_CURRENT_USERS\SOFTWARE\Hewlett-Packard
This did not help either.
I have an IBM Model Number 2153 E4N computer with 256-MB of RAM.
I have an 8-GB Hard Disk
I have an AMD Mother Board with 356-MH speed.
I am wondering if I can handle this Printer with my computer when it goes belly up after I have all of my other programs loaded.
I load about 3.5-GB of data into my Hard Disk.
I have been able to install the Printer Software if I do it right after I reformat my computer & then bring it on line before I install any other software other than:
Windows My Modem MSN 8 IE6setup
I have to have these avove programs loaded before the hp psc 2410 photosmart all-in -one printer-fax-scanner-copier will load at all.
Of couse, this is a very time consuming process for me. It generally takes me about two days to reload my computer when I reformat.
