I want to scan a ring that has a little magnet inside will this hurt the scanner.

I can't think of any reason it would hurt the scanner. Be careful not to scratch the glass with the ring.

The scanner uses light to scan so you will be ok. you might get a better picture if you cove the ring with a piece of paper as a back drop.
