It's probably software related. But to be sure borrow another keyboard and see if it still happens. If not then its time for a new keyboard and if it does then its got to be software related.

Is it a laptop keyboard, or a multi-function multimedia keyboard? There could be a "Fn" key that's stuck. Or, your keyboard could be set to a different language..

There are a multitude of things that could be wrong.

What OS? What version? What keyboard?

Make sure your keyboard is clean. Turn it upside down and shake. Try blowing some air from cool hairdryer.

IUts very simple really, anyoine who lives in canada will tell you. The keyboard is switching between an english and french layout. This is usually done when you press the wrong combination of keys. Usually if you press the shift+ctrl keys at the same time. A simple mistake.
The answer is to go into the control panel and select regional settings and then select the input locales tab. Then remove the french setting from the list displayed. This will cure your problem.

Thats what I was thinking
But the odd thing is why the accented "E" is on the "?" key? Confused

Also IVNJ could be right in saying that a programs Keyboard configuration could be causing this to happen Confused
If you can go off line right-click on the desktop and select New Document and type the alphabet and numbers into it ,and they all display correctly, then the "fault" lies in the software setup(bug or glitch?) Not in your computer Smile So you needn't worry. One of those things Smile

As I said, any Canadian (based in Quebec) could tell you. The accented E is placed on the ? key on a Canadian bilingual English/French keyboard. Smile
