Since it was installed my computer has developed some bad habits. I maximize my windows but every time my cursor happens to stray past the edge, I am bounced back to the "To sign in, please click your name" screen. This is annoying and unhelpful. Is there any way to stop it? XP and Premium.

Have you got an optical mouse?

If so, try turning your mouse mat upside down.

Why Puta, how nice to see you back again! I don't know if my mouse is optical, but it has a red light on the bottom so I suspect it is. I don't actually use a mouse pad with my laptop, I just run it on the chair arm. But I will try a better surface and see if that works.

With reference to "Puta's" answer above, the optical mouse works best with a light colored surface. If possible, a white colored mouse pad.

I am forever being pulled up about the Spanish connotations, but when I first started out on forums, computasolutions was usually too long for most registrations, so it got shortened. I apologise in advance to any Spanish speaking members who see it!

Getting back on topic , as your mouse has the red light, then it is an optical mouse. As Dwight mentioned a light surface is preferable, but as long as the surface is smooth and of a uniform colour, the mouse won't have a tendency to stray
