Don't think I have seen any info on what the Ambient Room operating temperature range for Processors is?
My computer has its BIOS resetting if the room is Cold (about 50F or below)But is OK when left with the power supply left on. Confused
But I am Not going to leave it on 24/7 (fire risk... Frown)
Anyone know where any data on this is?
Am running an Athlon XP 2000+ processor

I hope this is a good place to mention this.

My system has been crashing a lot over the last 2 weeks. I run Win XP Pro and Anthlon Processor also. I know that the temp. can go up to 90, as stated above, mine went no further than 55 before crashing. My problem was somewhat similar to that mentioned by bedstor.

Two or three days ago, my system crashed almost continuously - end result being I had to have someone come to the house to look at my processor. What happened in my case was that I smelled something burning, switched the processor off with the shut down proceedure and could not then get it go on manaually - dead, as if it was not even plugged in. The story is this, at some point before I had a surge protector my PSU suffered a surge, this has now, it would appear, caused further damage, quite unknown to me over a period of time.

I have a new PSU installed, but nursing the PC almost hourly, it looks as if my motherboard has been affected, very possibly the memory too. I'm very sad about this as I crash all the time, I'm using a window of opportunity to post this.

I get various error reports when I try to reboot the system each time, sometimes it reboots, fails, then reboots itself before I can ultimately get on and stay on, till the next time.

If anyone has any advice for me I'd be grateful, this is not something I know a great deal about.
