We have a (ridiculously archaic) business system which will only print in 3 different layouts. The system is called Reynolds & Reynolds. It is lame but we have been with them for a while and are scareed to jump ship because of the disruption to the business.

None of these print layouts/formats are ideal for A4 paper - either slightly wide or WAY too small (like A5).

The lame Reynolds help desk won't alter the print format unless we buy a laser printer from them AND sign up to an expensive monthly fee. Screw that.

We currently print using a particular setting that fits onto paper which feeds thru an OKI Pin printer. Unfortunately these pages are about 10mm wider than A4, so the print job can't simply be sent to a laser to print on A4 paper...

What I wanna know is whether a laser printer - we have a Kyocera FS-1920 - can be set to reduce the incoming print document to fit onto a smaller paper size that it is suited to e.g. A4.

I hope someone can help. Sorry to arrive and throw out a wallbanger question like this... but I'm stumped...
thanks
Andrew

I apologize for taking so long to get you a reply to your question. I am not sure what you're asking because I don't understand what you mean by:

"We have a business system which will only print in 3 different layouts."

By this, do you mean the program(s) that created the document that you wish to print? Since you say the business system is old, what computer operating system is this running on? (Windows XP or Windows 2000 for example).

Assuming that the business system that you speak of is the program used to create the document my belief is that you can only output the document in the format(s) provided. You may be able to "Save As" and save it into some other file format that would provide you with more options.

Also, you can print out the document in an "over sized" condition, then use a scanner or copier to resize it. That would be very clumsy, though.

Any chance of using a specialized paper size for the printout?

I hope that something here will be helpful.
