I am the original owner of an IBM ThinkPad laptop
(Model 770) purchased in 1999 from an online vender. My question: What are some of the ways I can upgrade/update this laptop model to increase its speed and general capabilities?

For example:

1) I already upgraded the RAM from the initial 128MB to 256MB. Would it be cost effective to now go up to 512MB?

2) Is a CPU upgrade possible (and worth the expense)?

3) Are there any BIOS/firmware updates that I should install?

4) Anything else to speed things up?

Thanks for the help/advice!

Bob

PS For your information, here is some specific data about this laptop:

Frequency: 233 MHz

That's 2 old and not worth the bother anymore! Give it to some kid in elementry or a relative! I can't speak for everybody but I like ECS Desknotes! Good enough! Some say thier not laptop-ee enough and to desktop-ee! But there's a built-in screen, keyboard, and four USB ports + 1 Firewire! No PCMCIA but everything is mostly USB-able now a days that was PCMCIA-ABLE! LAN, MODEM, TV OUT, and external VGA also there! Takes regular CPU and MEMORY so easy to upgrade! CPU a tad tricky but got it! And 2.5 HD but still easy to add your self! No external battery but any is insufficient for a 12 hour day! An external one is available for 1 and a half hour if need be though!

I like the XP and think P4 is a poor design or at least used to be but that's just me!

Just HD, CPU, and MEMORY needed! Also no OS! I put in a 40GB HD and 256 DDR and XP1700+ ThouroBread and XP OS and works fine! Really fast with XP1700+TB! Mine even has Built-in DVD drive and could of been DVD+CDRW combo for extra!
