My previous ISP discontinued its DSL Internet service. I now have a new ISP DSL service using their modem. However, I still have a perfectly good modem left to me by my former ISP. Is there a way, or any possibility, of using this modem for another computer in the same house using my new ISP's installation software or should I resort to using a D-Link gateway?

Thanks for any info you can provide.

Paul

I'm sorry but you need to use a router or a hub (depending on the brand of your new modem) to share your DSL connection between multiple computers.

If you happen to have a westell dsl modem (which is what I use) here is how to share the dsl using a cheap ($20) hub - http://www.dslreports.com/faq/6658

However, your old DSL modem can still be useful to someone else. They generally sell for up to $50 on ebay. You can make a few quick dollars and get rid of the old modem at the same time.
