My computer has been really sluggish today. For the last couple of day actually. I don't know why.

Some of my problems:

I cannot play any games because my computer is running so slow.

I have had to fix the time on my clock twice already today because it has somehow set itself 2 hours fast.

Clicking start, then clicking favorites, nothing will load. I have to click on the Internet Explorer icon and then go to my favorites folder that way.

If I am searching for something and there is several pages, it takes several seconds (like 10seconds usually) to turn the page.

When I click on a link, it takes about 20 seconds for it to do anything. And when I hit the back button to go back to the previsous page, it also takes a long time.

It also takes quite some time for a "post a topic" button to pop up. Here, or even at DP/HP.It took about 20 seconds for this box to come up.

When I do Ctrl/Alt/Delete
some weird things were in the close program box.

%-Becr1
*-Save
%-lehost
*-Ymcloqf
*Rundll32
*Givls5

%= cannot delete, being used by windows.
*= windows cannot find.

I have no clue what any of these are. Well, I assumed Ymcloqf was something to do with Yahoo?
I don't remember what Rundll32 is either.

I had to retype this because my computer fowled up. It took 3 minuets to get this box to come back up!

I have a 1.5 GHZ AMD Athlon Processor with 256 RAM WIN98

Thanks Smile

There are new worms and viruses around( korgo is one of them), if you don't have an anti-virus get one it's worth it.You may download a free virus scan named Housecall, just follow the instructions.

What is the size of your hard drive?

How much hard drive capacity do you have left?

If you get below a certain capacity of hard drive it will slow you down considerably.

If I am not mistaken you need about 25%- to 35% spare capacity on your hard drive.

I just wanted to let you all know that I reformated my computer, last night. All of the problems that I had, cease to exsist.

I ran the virus program that Mozart suggested. It found 8 trojan viruses, and only one of them was cleanable.

I also just purchased the news sims pc game, Sims2. With all of the problems I have and everything, I thought it best to start with a new slate. I lost ALOT of stuff, but when I did it yesterday, I didn't care. I just said to heck with it.

But anyway...Thank you for the helpful anti-virus program, Moazrt. Smile

don, before I reformatted yesterday, I had 76% free. But then again, it varies on a consistant basis and sometimes gets below the necessary amount.

I hope beyond hop that starting fresh will give me the new chance that I need and that these problems will not arise again.

Thanks ever so much, guys Smile

That's the tough way, but it works. Glad you
resolved your problem.

I assume you checked for the viruses before you formatted the Hard Drive.

The Rundll32 file is a main system driver file.
Lots of things use it to help them work (common to see it mentioned in error reports)
Most of the other stuff is generated garbage
Regarding the clock is that keeping time again?
if it had been doing that I'd have suspected either the battery was on the verge of failure or the software driver that starts up the computer needed a reload?(BIOS)

Read #9 and #10 in the section Rescuing the Drowning Computer
