I am in the market to buy some speakers for my laptop I find when I play a cd the sound is not loud enough I have adjusted my sound in the computer but it is not enough. Also I chat on msn with my grandchildren in quebec and my husband cannot hear the conversation because I use headphones otherwise the conversation is very very soft. can you refer some speakers for Toshiba satellite pentium 4 windows XP, thank you

Are you adjusting the volume control on the side of the computer? See this picture: Toshiba Satellite A70

See under "Machine Layout" right-hand side

Move the speaker volume control up or down. You might prefer to set this at its highest level, then adjust the volume on the program to a comfortable point.

If that doesn't solve the problem and you want an external speaker set you will need to get an enhanced speaker. "Enhanced" just means that there is an electrical cord that you plug in. A speaker set that is not enhanced means the speakers draw their electrical supply from the computer itself.

Pretty much any enhanced speaker set should work. Altec is a inexpensive (about $30) brand that works well.
