This could be a lot of things. It sounds like your router and dsl modem are not playing nicely together. It could be a bad modem - or router - or both, or it could be an electrical current problem which could cause either to reset. Or... it could be an issue with your network connection from the main house to your "out" house. (sorry couldn't resist) I'm assuming that your network cable is exposed to the elements which could affect its performance.
I'd try this: First, contact your dsl provider and see if they will provide you a "second" dsl outlet. You'll need another dsl modem, but at least you won't have to go into the house if you have to re-set. If they won't I'd check the quality of cable that you're using in the connection to the house, verify that it's rated for the outside and the distance that you're traveling. A local electronics or computer store should be able to help you with that. If that still doesn't help, I'd replace the Linksys. My Linksys burned up after about a year. I've had better luck with a NetGear-RP114. They're about $90 new and $50 reconditioned. If that's not it, try replacing the dsl modem - my provider will swap out bad ones for free, check with yours.
Lastly, I guess a heavy coat and some warm boots - I grew up in Ohio and it's going to be damn COLD soon!!!!!!!

Samantha Have you considered the possibilty that the signal is "dropping out" due to excessive length of cable run between both computers? How far are the houses apart? and b) How much length of cable runs inside the house? There must be a booster link to fit on the cable somewhere on the Web (I'm sure it will be inexpensive) They have boosters for weak area TV signals, surely they have something similar for a computer hub link? I think the maximum cable length is about 25yds before "drop-outs" occurs, read that somewhere recently .Applies to "all" devices.
