Okay. Here is the situation. My aunt just got a divorce and learned that her ex was letting his new lady use her (aunt) laptop. So, she got it back but all the passwords have been changed and no one knows them.

Someone said to see if there is a reset button on the bottom but there isn't. Is there any place that we can take it to get them removed. You can't even get on the computer without a password.
Any help would be appreciated.

If you can't even get on then you may be forced to just reinstall windows. The problem with this is that all of the data will be lost but it may be worth it to just start over. A fresh install may be the best way to go.

If you can find a way to log on at all there are ways to get your info. I found this site which gives directions on how to retrieve the admin passwords. There are many like this available online.

recovery tool

It seems pretty complicated. You should have someone who knows about computers look at the site and do it for you. (You don't want to mess anything up)You do have to look throughout the site to see which option will work best for you.

more password help

There are several programs which allow you to retrieve passwords.

If you don't know much about computers I strongly recommend you have someone who knows about computers do this for you. If you start messing with the registry you could really mess something up and NOT be able to fix it.

I'm sorry it's been a while. I've been trying to find out more information.

The only way you can do anything on the computer is in safety mode. It uses windows 2000. You need a password to get into windows and this is the one we don't know.

I will pass on the links to see if they will help.

Thanks for the help. I appreciate it!
