Some questions
Will you be transfering saved files Only
Do you want to run both together?
And will they be in the same room or different locations?
Also do you want a free way like Remote desktop or inexpensive Method like a usb memory stick or a USB Firewire cable or pay a few dollars for a transferable portable storage drive?
There is more but these are the best ways
I personally use a Corsair "Flash Voyager" 1 GB USB stick I just plug it in Drag the files into it (like a folder)
And unplug it and I can plug it in on any computer open the file and there are my saved files ready for use .I'm currently using it to store driver upgrades for my brothers new computer (which has not been online) Running as a games machine at the moment.
Note comes complete with a natty neck-strap

I also have a
Seagate 320 GB Usb portable drive which works in the same way and I can drag entire programs across This costs about $100 this can fit into a small bag with its lead .Weighs about 4lbs
This is the expensive solution, though there are smaller capacity drives which are of course much cheaper
