The '06 Class are Black Sabbath (Geezer Butler, Tony Iommi, Ozzy Osbourne, Bill Ward), Blondie (Clem Burke, Jimmy Destri, Nigel Harrison, Debbie Harry, Frank Infante, Chris Stein, Gary Valentine), Miles Davis, Lynyrd Skynyrd (Bob Burns, Allen Collins, Steve Gaines, Ed King, Billy Powell, Artimus Pyle, Gary Rossington, Ronnie Van Zant, Leon Wilkeson), Sex Pistols (Paul Cook, Steve Jones, Glen Matlock, Johnny Rotten, Sid Vicious), and Herb Alpert & Jerry Moss (Lifetime Achievement Award in the Non-Performer category). Thoughts? Opinions?
Miles Davis? I love the man's early jazz; he was the epitome of Cool. But he was most definitely not a Rocker. Even his later work, which I did not like, was Jazz, not Rock. The fact that he had Rock sidemen only means that the younger guys were the only ones willing to go where Miles wanted to go. It was ...interesting music, but it was not Rock.

Man, a lot of those are a long time coming. I remember you talking about your disappointment in Black Sabbath still not getting in in the previous years, Curtis. Congrats on the Lynyrd Skynyrd.

"Next to the Sex Pistols, Rock and Roll and that hall of fame is a **** stain," said the letter which was read out by Hall of Fame vice president Jann Wenner.

Yeah, I've actually been thinking that hall of fames and having tons of awards are pretty unnecessary anyway. Having one major awards show to honor the year's talent is really enough.

I think it is a pretty good class this year. I was wondering how long it would take Skynyrd to get in. They are truly worthy. If you think Skynyrd is all about "Freebird" or "Sweet Home Alabama" you need to listen to thier albums, because there is some sweet, tasty music to be found.
