Welcome to the pool Eddie! i'm kinda the local U2 expert, so feel free to ask any questions in the future!
Anyways, possible explanations:
This is their fourteenth album, following Boy, October, War, Under A Blood Red Sky, The Unforgettable Fire, The Joshua Tree, Rattle And Hum, Achtung Baby, Zooropa, Pop, Best of 1980-1990, All That You Can't Leave Behins and Best of 1990-2000
Its a biblical reference - psalm 3:14 or something like that
The song is about 3:14 long
Its a kind of tribute to Steve Lillywhite, who produced this album (How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb), as well as the first three albums. Hence, Uno = Boy, Dos = October, Tres = War and Catorce = How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb
Bono has been reported as saying that it was a drunken joke, but thats probably not the case - He once said that the song Hawkmoon 269was given the 269 ending because they remixed it 269 times --> highly unlikely.
Most likely, he was drunk, and just mixed up cuatro (four) with catorce (fourteen).
But hey, it may not have been that at all --> just listen to the original Vertigo, a song called Native Son!

After all that insight and you say he was probably just drunk? That one about Lillywhite convinced me. Sure seems more than coincidence.

yep - this is purely speculation, and many of the explanations (to be precise, explanations 1, 2, 3, 4 were originally suggestd by fans - so all of them really!) In all honesty, the song length suggestion is probably the most unlikely - in actuality, the song is 3:11 long, not 3:14. The lillywhite one is actually speculation as well, because SL helped to mix three or four tracks on The Joshua Tree, and i don't think he did all of HTDAAB. In case anyone is interested, the tracklisting for HTDAAb is found just below! 01 Vertigo 02 Miracle Drug 03 Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own 04 Love And Peace Or Else 05 City Of Blinding Lights 06 All Because Of You 07 A Man And A Woman 08 Crumbs From Your Table 09 One Step Closer 10 Original Of The Species 11 Yahweh 12 Fast Cars (UK and Japan only releases, except with Deluxe Edition) The first five tracks are definitly the best five, although OSC and Yahweh are nice too. OOTS is pure, but a bit too overrated for me.
