Ok, many years ago I heard a song, I am sure it was by Aerosmith.

It had a great beat, and had something to do with a boy/guy/kid getting hit by a train, or jumping in front of a train, and losing his head?

It was not Janie's Got A Gun.

Can anyone help?

Shel, I have searched Aerosmith lyrics and can't find any song you describe. Do these lyrics sound familar?
JETHRO TULL LYRICS

"Locomotive Breath"

In the shuffling madess
of the locomotive breath,
runs the all-time loser,
headlong to his death.
He feels the piston scraping --
steam breaking on his brow --
old Charlie stole the handle and
the train won't stop going --
no way to slow down.
He sees his children jumping off
at the stations -- one by one.
His woman and his best friend --
in bed and having fun.
He's crawling down the corridor
on his hands and knees --
old Charlie stole the handle and
the train won't stop going --
no way to slow down.
He hears the silence howling --
catches angels as they fall.
And the all-time winner
has got him by the balls.
He picks up Gideons Bible --
open at page one --
old Charlie stole the handle and
the train won't stop going --
no way to slow down

Shel, I don't know if this is what you mean but Aerosmith did a video for "Livin On The Edge" with Joe Perry playing guitar at the side of a railway line. The train comes along and he steps out of the way at the last second. Was that it?

Nope, I haven't seen the video for this song...

Maybe it isn't Aerosmith? Does anyone remember any songs about a guy/boy losing his head....or anything that is similar?

This is gonna drive me nuts!

Are looking for "Train Kept A Rollin"? Some of the lyrics are as folows:
Well on a train, I met a dame
She rather handsome
We kinda look the same
She was pretty
From New York City
I'm walkin' down that old fair lane
I'm in heat, I'm in love
But I just couldn't tell her so

I said, Train Kept A Rollin' all night long
Train Kept A Rollin' all night long
Train Kept A Rollin' all night long
Train Kept A Rollin' all night long
With a heave, and a ho
But I just couldn't tell her so, no, no, no

Well, get along
Sweet little woman get along
On your way
Well, get along
Sweet little woman get along
On your way
I'm in heat, I'm in love
But I just couldn't tell her so, no, no, no

Well on a train, I met a dame
She rather handsome
We kinda looked the same
She was pretty
From New York City
I'm walkin' down that old fair lane
I'm in heat, I'm in love
But I just couldn't tell her so

Maybe you're thinking of "Hangman Jury" from the Permanent Vacation cd. It goes something like "hey boy, don't you lie on the track- alacka. Hey boy, don't you lie on the tracks."

Crazy Train- Ozzy Osbourne

[Daisley - Osbourne - Rhoads]

All aboard

Crazy, but that's how it goes
Millions of people living as foes
Maybe it's not too late
To learn how to love, and forget how to hate

Mental wounds not healing
Driving me insane
I'm goin' off the rails on a crazy train
I'm goin' off the rails on a crazy train
Let's go

I've listened to preachers, I've listened to fools
I've watched all the dropouts who make their own rules
One person conditioned to rule and control
The media sells it and you live the role

Mental wounds still screaming
Who and what's to blame
I'm goin' off the rails on a crazy train
I'm goin' off the rails on a crazy train

I know that things are going wrong for me
You've gotta listen to my words, yeah

Heirs of a cold war, that's what we've become
Inheriting troubles, I'm mentally numb
Crazy, but what do I care
I'm living with something I don't wanna share

Mental wounds not healing
Driving me insane
I'm goin' off the rails on a crazy train
I'm goin' off the rails on a crazy train
