Hello all,

I heard a song from the 80's a few weeks ago that I had totally forgotten about until then. It is a really great song and I can't remember the name of it, or the artist. I do know that they had a sort of southern rock sound, like 38 Special. I'm not really sure of any of the words, maybe "never gonna forget your love" or "next time I fall in love" yadda yadda yadda.

I've tried googling stuff like that but it's so vague that its really no help. What I need is maybe a list of artists like this. The guitars were really hard driving but really clean. I wanna say that this group may have formed from members of other southern rock bands, but not sure about that either.

Can someone please help me??

I just realized I put Def Leppard and Creedance in there. They were in one of the lists. Roll Eyes I don't think they're that similar. Hmm, some of the others I probably could've edited out too.

You'd probably like a place to hear their songs. I recommend allmusic.com if you aren't using it. You can see all of a band's songs and see their most popular.

Thanks jusork, but none of those names ring a bell. I'm sure once I see the name I'm looking for I'll immediately recognize it.

A few additions to jusork's most excellent list:

.38 Special - maybe it really is them!
The Jimmie Van Zant Band
Van Zant
The Greg Allman Band
Warren Haynes (of the Allmans)
Ram Jam (hit with cover of "Black Betty")
Drive-By Truckers
The Henry Paul Band
Southern Bitch

Here is someone's list of the 100 Greatest Southern Rock Songs.

Some bands have heavy influences from Southern Rock. Dire Straits - an English band - is an example, with really clean guitar picking. So maybe it's not a southern rock band, after all!
