Metal. More specifically alternative metal (or nu-metal, as it's more commonly called.) Alternative metal is basically a newer form of metal (the current incarnation of it formed around the early-mid '90s and became especially popular by the end of the '90s.) Think Korn's sound kind of. It's usually more distorted and often commercially focused. Currently, alternative metal is on the downturn, but a lot of bands are still holding up under the radar such as Static-X. In general, alternative metal is rather angsty with it's anger. Static-X holds these characteristics up pretty strongly, especially with their last two albums. They also sometimes add in industrial metal (the more watered down version many would say.)

Here's their official website if you don't know much about them. There's plenty of audio on there to look into if that's the case. They have their newest first single to play right away when you get into the site. Personally though, their good stuff seems to be on their first album so I'd suggest one on there to get the best listen. Let's try I'm With Stupid. That should give you a good idea, too. It's a quicktime. Let me know if you can't play those and you want to hear it. I'll find another for you.

Does that help?

Aleia, they were at Cityfest Live in Charlotte (in 2001 I believe). All I can say is I hope they've improved; they were about as enjoyable as static cling. Wink

Thanks. I actually got the CD from someone and I figured before I opened it and couldn't regift it, I'd ask around to see what they were about.
BTW, Coldfuse - I only moved here in September. I'm from Northern NJ, about 10 minutes outside of NYC. Charlotte is a pretty cool little city though. Wink

Yeah, that's the latest (2003.) I found it a bit disapointing, but I hope you enjoy it. Have you heard any yet?

Actually, I the Mrs. and I drove your way this weekend - a performance of "Little Women" by the Mooresville Children's Theater! A return to visit to What-A-Burger is in our near future. Wink

I got scared, so I gave it to my brother. He in turn passed it on to someone he knew. It's not the kind of thing that I'm in to. If I'm going to listen to "metal" I'll put in old (very old) Metallica or death metal (ie. Cradle of Filth).
So...I'm sorry I couldn't give you my opinion. Frown
