Does anyone know if you can freeze cream cheese?

I went to some cooking sites and about all of them said it's not a good idea. Cream cheese does not freeze well. Frozen cream cheese, when defrosted, is no longer smooth and creamy, but turns out grainy and crumbly instead. It completely changes the texture, especially with the better brands like Philadelphia.

Pace is right...it does not freeze well - it breaks down and when it separates, it becomes watery.
