I have those little popsicle molds and have tried to freeze Crystal Light and other assorted sugar-free drinks...but it's like the flavor sepperates from the water in the drink so that you get a clump of flavor and then plain ice. Is there a "trick" to freezing things made with nutra-sweet or is nutra-sweet the problem?

Maybe I need to make regular Kool-Ade and add Splenda???? Confused

Thanks!!

Try halfing your liquid (water) for your recipe, boil it in the Microwave (get it real hot) then stir the nutrasweet into that for about 2 minutes - that should dissolve it all the way so when you add the rest of the cold water and pop it in the freezer the solids will not settle out.

This will work with kool-aide flavoring as well.

OR

Try a suspension of Knox Gelatin and your flavoring, read the directions on the back of the knox, and water it down to 1/2.

Knox is unflavored gelatin - so no one will know. What should happen is that the liquid should start to solidify faster before the nutrasweet settles.

Mind, the act of freezing will cause the solids (even dissolved sugar) to separate from the water. This is why ice cubes tend to leave that white stuff (mineral deposits) This might also be whats taking place.

About the only way to get clear ice at home is to use distilled water.
