Seeing the request for 7 Up cake, and then looking for some recipes for one got me to thinking (always a dangerous situation). If 7 Up can be used in baking a cake, why not Dr Pepper, or strawberry soda, or orange, or...? (I just got off the phone with DG, Jr, who said he's had a Dr Pepper cake, a cherry vanilla one, and that it was good.)
I have been thinking about cooking a chicken with Dr Pepper, like a can of beer is used. Next summer, I will definitely try this one.

Indeed, DG. One might even try a combination of strawberry Koolaid and 7 Up for a really explosive cake.
Among my favorite cookbooks in my collection is Classic Cooking with Coca-Cola by Elizabeth Candler Graham and Ralph Roberts. Graham is the Great-great-granddaughter of Asa Griggs Candler, who founded Coca-Cola. I cannot see why many of the recipes could not be done with Dr. Pepper. It also has recipes using other Coca-Cola products including Sprite.
now that you mention the cola thing, I have actually heard of gravy being made w/ Coca Cola. I saw it on a cooking show on Food Network.
Regarding kool-aid, I actually have a cookie that I make every year around Christmas time that I put kool-aid in. Basically it is a sugar cookie recipe but I had a packet of kool-aid. The best flavor was Blue Raspberry Lemonade. But they don't make that one anymore. Lemonade makes for a good cookie.
