My worst smell experience...helping apt. mgr. clean apts after tennants move out. Well someone must have been very upset, left with no notice and left most belongings there. One thing they did do was unplug the fridge....big bowl in freezer with fish they had caught, had sat at least 2 weeks....All of us were gagging and I won;t go any further with that. Poor manager, trying to get that bowl somewhere..as soon as he got onto carpeted area he dropped the bowl...OMG...roaches by the thousands, so many they had clogged all dishwasher pipes and drains...unbelievable....
I would think anyone carrying such a thing toward disposal would wrap it in a trash bag first to avoid just such an accident.
There are companies that specialize in such 'extreme' cleanups which sometimes can be toxic. They're worth the money because of special training and experience. They also do cleanups after fires, so can get odors out of materials where this is possible. It's not always possible.
