When we buy ice cream in summer, and have quite a ways to go to get home...is it better to put it in the trunk with the rest of the groceries, or in the inside where the air condition is on?

Since the air conditioner is blowing air, I was wondering if the air would melt it faster. I've tried this both ways, and it seems like it melts faster in the inside with the air. Maybe it's the combination of the sun shining through the window and the blowing air. Confused

Why not try putting it on the floor (In a plastic bag for protection) where there is no sun hardly and the air is blowing on it?

Also, why not get a cheap cooler (you know, those styrofoam jobbies that are very small) with ice in it, then pack it in the cooler on the way home?

Thanks Sherasi, I never thought of putting it on the floor and that would keep the sun from shining on it. I'll try that. There's never any room for a cooler. Smile

also ask that it be put in a paper bag, not plastic - it'll contain the coldness better than the plastic will.

I always keep a small 6 pack sized cooler in the trunk of my car for just such instances. Also, Walmart sells a cooler bag. It's an insulated bag that is shiny and looks like foil. It will keep hot things hot or cold things cold. I think it's only a few bucks and you can find it near the ice cream section!
