Would any of you folks upon sampling cookies, etc. . . notice that vanilla was missing? I want to omit the vanilla in an oatmeal cookie recipe.

I am not a vanilla bean or oatmeal cookie fan. I want to make some oatmeal cookies for a friend who just got out of back surgery. The thing is, my hubby and I will be eating some of the cookies as well.

How big of a deal is it if the vanilla was missing?

Some people will notice that vanilla is missing, some will notice that something is missing, and some won't notice a thing. I knew someone who could identify almost any spice used in preparation of most meals. It really depends on the individual.
