I am not sure where to post this question. I saw this answer about 2 years ago on a Trivia Column, but I have since forgotten the answer.

What are the color codes to the bread ties/clips in the Grocery stores?

Bakeries use the same codes all over.

Eg: Monday=red, that sort of thing
Confused

I always check for the freshest date, no matter what I am buying. bread, eggs, canned soup, whatever. There are very often different dates of the same product on the shelves at a time. I find this especially helpful when buying milk. It is worth it to check a few of the bottles to get the freshest one.

that it is in alphabetical order (according to tie color) on which day it is baked and they don't bake on Wednesdays or Sundays so if you buy your bread on the end of the week you want W or Y.

.....each bread company uses its own set of colors so no sequence is common throughout the industry. Here's a better way:

Look to see if in fact there is more than one color on the shelf at a given time. The freshest color will be the one in the back or on the bottom, as it is practically industry wide practice to rotate stock.
