I have made many sundials out of different materials. The brass ones are too much trouble for people to keep polished. Any suggestions as to how to treat them so that they tarnish nicely and dont need any more care?

Easy..... When first made and/or polished, spray them with a coating of clear plastic or lacquer...Will last for a considerble lenght of time...

Any thing you buy today in Brass is done this way......

It is too late to clear coat it because I don't want to take it apart to polish it AGAIN! How about some kind of acid bath? Brass was not a good choice for a sundial. I have made them out of copper, aluminum, wood, stained glass, cement and cardboard. Only brass has been a problem.
