I am trying to use liquid starch to stiffen fabric. I would like to make the fabric really , really stiff without altering it's color. Does liquid starch turn yellow over time like glue does? Can anyone out there help me out? Thanks

My Dad was a Chef and Mom starched and ironed his "Chefs" hat. She would use a powder starch that was mixed with water. She would soak the hats in that solution, let them dry then steam press them.

Dad was real particular how he looked and insisted on WHITE, starched hats. He had no use for those cheap paper ones. He was The Chef and time to time he would have to go out in the dinning room to receive accolades from a good customer.
