My sisters and I are planning a family cruise in a couple of years (7 of us girls & various husbands/significant others & children (youngest is 10) and the discussion turned to their cruise experiences (I've never been).

Can't remember the cruise line, but 3 of them remembered the towel origami figures they found on their beds every day.

I'm intrigued! Anyone know how to do it? Any sites/books you know of? I did a Google search and found www.britishorigami.org.uk but no specific info about "towel origami". I only found someone else's request for info.

I've got a paper origami book, but it couldn't possibly work the same given the restrictions of towel sizes (washcloth, hand, fingertip, bath, etc.)

Info please!

Towel folding is called fabrigami. There is a book called Fascinating Folds.

Thanks Jersey, but I found this site and they're out of business/going out of business. I did a search for the book by itself...no luck.

Other searches didn't lead anywhere. Maybe I should just try to see if I can adapt paper origami to towels.

I still think there must be some hotel/cruise personnel who are aware of this specialty. Thing is, are they part of our "family"?

Thanks Jersey!

I think I'm going to email or snailmail Carnival to see if they're willing to part with some info.

I just remembered this thread, and thought I'd look, again, to see if there was anything new, in a search.

I only found a couple

This Japanese site: Hot Towel Art. Just make sure to run the URL through Altavista's Babel Fish translator, unless you can read Japanese. LOL

And this washcloth Rose:
Green Cottage - China's Rose.

Everything else is just photos from people's cruises. I've saved a few of the pics; maybe I'll try to recreate some, someday. LOL

OMG!

I'm glad that I stumbled accross this post! My Mom used to make bunny rabbits with face towels - that held a bar of soap.

They were soooo cute!

Brought back memories for me too Tree.
My Grandmother used to make dolls and animals out of face towels and cloth's and those old fashioned dishrags when I was a child.
Wish I'd had the sense to learn how myself now!

Actually, what I'm talking about is rolling/folding towels in to fanciful shapes for decoration. You unfold them to use them, but they look nicer than just having your towels hang there.

It's a big thing on cruises, for cabin stewards to make animals and shapes out of the towels when they bring you clean ones. I'd love to know how.
