This may be of not much help Koz Look in the yellow pages for a Saddler (Horse goods) they may have a suitable dye in stock Failing that a leather goods shop or even a cobbler? ( Ask for "Shoe Dye") May be able to purchase it in a large supermarket? But I haven't seen any in several years (Used to work for a supermarket chain) As regards what you intend to do with the ball afterwards (I cannot give you a guarantee on how long the coating will last, but for a cosmetic appearance it will do the trick

Thanks bedstor . There is an old-fashioned shoe repair shop in town. (Tiny little shop, one-man operation right next to the train station) I will stop by and ask him this afternoon. I’m sorry I forgot to mention my intentions. I plan on getting this baseball autographed with a silver Sharpie by a baseball player who is currently serving a lifetime ban from the game. Pete Rose is the all time hit leader in baseball. He will be in Cooperstown, New York providing his autograph for a fee. (I will be there too) The thing I really want to see is if he will sign a black baseball about 200 meters (Where his store is) from the Baseball Hall of Fame building. A building he is “black balled” from. I do have a black baseball autographed by him about five years ago. It has a vinyl cover, not an “official” ball. Over time from heat, cold, dry, and humid it has started to crack. It is purely for ornamental use, and to see if Mr. Rose still has a sense of humor.
