When I worked for hospice, I went to a great number of funerals and viewings.

As a way to remember people who touched my life I saved many of the little 'announcement' cards.

I am looking for a way to save them, but keep them from fading with age and falling apart.

I thought about putting them into a 'scrapbook' but these are the little booklets that have the picture on the outside and the words, poetry etc on the inside.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

How about sealing them open in plastic so both the outside and inside could be seen. You might then put then in a small loose leaf folder.

There are books at the artsy fartsy store that are bound plastic envelope kind of things for slipping pages into to where both sides can be seen.

They are slightly larger than a full page notebook, they are books in themselves.

I think even office supply stores carry them as well - sorry I have no idea what the name would be.

Shel...if you want to keep them for a long time, you may want to consider laminating them. As long as laminated in thin plastic, there should be no problem with the center fold bending easily.

I'm envisioning a scrapbook...with the back of the card attached to a page and the front page of the card loose. (But with the entire card protected by plastic)

You have fine scrapbooking skills...I could see you putting one or two per page and writing memories on the page that the card is attached to...so you can look at it years from now and be reminded why that person was so special to you.

What about putting them in a slide-in photo album. This will protect them but will make them easily removeable when you want to look throught them. Smile

An acid free paper box that has a lid and separate the cards with acid free paper dividers. If you write on the dividers so that you can locate the cards easily then you will best avoid getting the oils from your fingers onto the cards which is what will cause the most damage aside from acid in paper or sunlight. I think this is an easy way to go and it will conserve them better than the false sense of security that plastic will give you.

A foodsaver would do an excellent job storing cards. I own one and it works great. Smile
