I have been making cards for a few months and decided to have a go at scrapbooking. I love the fantastic papers and embellishments they sell for this hobby so off I went to my local papercraft store to buy a scrapbook. I was amazed at the prices. The cheapest one was £20 and that was for a 6 inch square one. I really want a 12 x 12 scrapbook but they were upwards of £40. I know scrapbooking is a big thing in the US. Are they as expensive over there?

To clarify: Jenny's £20 = US$ 37.25, £40 therefore = $74.50

Scrapbooking is HUGE here...my daughters are both into it, the older moreso than the younger.

There are papers, stickers, scissors that make special borders, etc...wow

My oldest daughter made a scrapbook for me a couple of years ago, which chronicled her years growing up...although it was only about 20 pages, it was the most meaningful thing I think I have ever received.

I will keep the scrapbook she made for me, forever...I think that goes to say why scrapbooking is so popular.

Jenny, I recently became a consultant for a scrapbooking company. I also started out making cards, and when the person I bought my supplies from moved, I got pushed into selling them myself.

Here, you can get cheap scrapbooks for under $25, or with the company I work for, fake leather or cloth covered ones for about $27, and leather covers run about $37.

That's great Shel! I would love a job working with crafts. I only recently started making cards but have produced about 500 which my family and friends buy on a regular basis. I will wait until August when I come to the States to buy a scrapbook. Big Grin
