Do you think there is going to be an October Surprise? Who will it hurt? What form will it take?
If anything, I think McCain will show his explosive temper in front of a camera and the entire country will see it. I think it will cost him much of the little remaining indie support he has, and, within a few days of the exposure, he will all but suspend campaigning. (Of course, we've found out recently that McCain suspending his campaign basically means nothing. He didn't even stop for a day when he went back to Washington to get in the way and try to grab headlines help out with the bailout bill. (Did anyone else notice that the bill he helped out with failed, and that progress and Republican support only came after he felt?) I think that Obama will not so much gain a great may votes from this, but that many McCain supporters will simply not bother to vote.

Last week some clown in the McCain camp hinted that the Oct. surprise would be the wedding of Palin's preggo daughter. He thought it would get the same amount of attention as the wedding of Charles & Diana!

G.C's post reminded me of a ditty I learned as a child (circa 1932):
Oh the bride turned up And her mother turned up And her father turned up And the parson in his long white shirt turned up But the poor boy said That he didn't want to wed And they found him in the river With his toes turned up.
Author unknown? I think Bedstor or Fred may know it?

Er....no
Nearest I have is "Waiting at the Church" by Leigh and Pether (1906)
I remember reading (somewhere) that the future son-in-law had to be "convinced" that marriage was a good idea. After reading about Todd Palin, I can see that he would be intimidating to a teen-age boy.
But whether they marry or don't marry, or marry in time for the election really doesn't make any difference. McCain put all his money on Pain, and the dice came up craps.

It looks for now like Obama is going to have to respond once again to questions about his past alliances, and McCain may have to revisit Keating and gambling questions.
Troopergate may factor in.
I sometimes wonder if the biggest surprise of all might be in November. What happens if Obama goes into election day with a 5%+ lead and a seemingly insurmountable electoral advantage and is defeated? James Carville has suggested that all hell will break loose.

There are already reports of potential voter disenfranchisement (in either Ohio or Florida). If thousands of blacks are again denied their rightful opportunity to vote, I think you will see rioting.

Maybe ACORN thinks they, if they get 10-15,000 bogus voters for the Dems, it will balance out the 2000 election fiasco in Florida. (Time for JohnGalt to come in and quote the Minority Report of the Election Commission, without, of course, telling us that t was the minority view?)
