"We are going to work longer hours, we are going to work full weeks, we are going to have votes on Mondays and Fridays." - Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Jan. 4, 2007
The Senate, which, like the rest of the government, had Monday off due to the MLK holiday. But, after a late night session on Thursday, which resulted in the pasage of a long overdue ethics bill, Reid not only gave the Senate Friday off, but has no votes scheduled until Tuesday evening. That's only slightly better than the Republicans' practice of a Tuesday 6:30pm - Thursday 3:00pm work week in the last Senate. It is unacceptable.

As I see it, the less time Congress spends in session, the less time they have in concocting more screwball bills & laws. As a country we are better off when Congress is on vacation.
