"You know,, women are now very active in the Kuwaiti parliament." - george w. bush
Uh, in a word, "Wrong." No woman has ever been elected to the Kuwaiti parliament. It was illegal for women to even vote in Kuwait until a law was passed, by the all-male parliament, in 2005 granting women the right to vote. About 10% of the candidates for seats in the 2006 election (27 out of 249, running for 50 seats) were women. None won.
