President bush, interviewed on the CBS News program "60 Minutes", which aired last night -
He said Iraqis should be thankful for all the United States has done for them since the invasion nearly four years ago.
"I think I am proud of the efforts we did,"
**** Bush allowed that low troop levels "could have been a mistake," **** The president bridled at the suggestion that he has been less than forthcoming with the American people about such matters as the existence of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, the lack of any connection between the September 11, 2001 attacks and Iraq, and predictions that the war would cost about $50 billion -- far short of the current $400 billion price tag.
"I strongly reject that this administration hasn't been straight with the American people. The minute we found out they didn't have weapons of mass destruction, I was the first to say so." **** He also rejected the suggestion that the U.S. invasion created more instability in Iraq than it eliminated.
"Well, our administration took care of a source of instability in Iraq," he said. "Envision a world in which Saddam Hussein was rushing for a nuclear weapon to compete against Iran."
Both U.S. and UN officials have said since the invasion that Saddam Hussein's nuclear program was dismantled after the 1991 Gulf War.
A CIA-led survey of Iraq's weapons programs concluded in 2004 that then-Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein had halted work toward a nuclear bomb in 1991, under U.N. sanctions that ended the Persian Gulf War. ************************ ************************ Envision a world in which bulls could fly. Think of how much BS would be dropping on the American people.

bush is completly refractory to reality. It's beyond being in denial. To him, there's nothing to deny. Everything he's done is exactly right. I suspect that part is due to his belief that he'd carrying out God's will. Either that or a deeply disturbed personality that can't handle any second-guessing, else the facade that leans against his essential self-doubt will crumble. Or not.

It is really scary to think that this man is our President. What I'm most concerned about right now (other than having a son in the Army Reserve) is why he is sending aircraft carriers and Patriot missile batterys into Iraq. Is he planning to provoke yet another war, this time against Iran?
Quoted from Time Magazine Speaking to veterans at the American Legion convention in Salt Lake City, he [President Bush] responded with a sharp condemnation of Tehran's actions; "The world now faces a grave threat from the radical regime in Iran," Bush said. "We know the depth of suffering that Iran's sponsorship of terrorists has brought. And we can imagine how much worse it would be if Iran were allowed to acquire nuclear weapons.
"Today is the deadline for Iran's leaders to reply to the reasonable proposal the international community has made," Bush added. " If Iran's leaders accept this offer and abandon their nuclear weapons ambitions, they can set their country on a better course. Yet, so far, the Iranian regime has responded with further defiance and delay. It is time for Iran to make a choice. We've made our choice: We will continue to work closely with our allies to find a diplomatic solution — but there must be consequences for Iran's defiance, and we must not allow Iran to develop a nuclear weapon."
I think this war in Iraq was wrong from the beginning; I can't think of even one thing this administration has said about the war that has proven to be correct. And we certainly do not need another war.

And, just how many Nuclear bombs "WMD" does the U.S. have?
I read about this in the paper once, a couple years ago... It had a list of all the Nations which possess Nuclear bombs, and how many they had, reportedly. The U.S. was by far the one at the top of the list. We have enough nukes to melt half the galaxy, for crying out loud.
So, then just where does the current Administration get off pointing the finger at Iran (or any other Nation, for that matter)?
As the good book says, "You fool- you must first remove the log from your own eye before trying to remove the splinter from mine."
The Democrats have succeded in playing politics with this war. They have undermined President Bush at every chance they could get. And it worked. Now we are stuck with them in control of Congress for the next 2 years and we can see what kind of real damage they can inflict on the country between now & the next election.

Yes, they may get us into a war with a second-rate country with a destroyed military and still not win. (At least Reagan picked on a country that had a smaller military than the NYPD.)
