Yes. Oprah Winfey is the ultimate celebrity endorsement.

Barack Obama is a charismatic Senator from her own state who has an opportunity to win the nomination and likely shares her views on important issues. I hope her endorsement criteria transcended race and gender.

Oprah's influence among women is powerful. Thus I believe her endorsement will produce more votes for Obama from all women.

I am rather skeptical of how well celebrity endorsements help a candidacy. I often wonder if sometimes a celebrity endorsement actually hurts more than it helps.

As for the Hillary Clinton campaign, right now it appears to be crumbling a bit. While hubby Bill is still popular in many circles & with many campaign contributors, ultimately Hillary is going to have to show she is her own woman. In the debates & press conferences she is the one answering the questions, not Bill. The case could be made it might actually be more beneficial that she distance herself from him, or he tones down his role & stay behind the scenes to help Hillary elevate her position more.

Somehow, I find the suggestion that Oprah, Asians, Hispanics, Women, and/or lesbians (?) choose a president on the basis of gender or race rather offensive. I hope and believe that most voters are not that superficial or ignorant. I think Obama has enough charisma, and talent to appeal to many people of any race or gender. For myself, I think that Oprah Winfrey's endorsement of any candidate would detract from the candidate's 'gravitas'. If he were endorsed by a respected world leader, able to articulate persuasive statesmanlike reasons for urging his election, that would be one thing, but an entertainment show-biz icon's endorsement might be a 'kiss of death' to serious voters. She may well trivialize his candidacy and electability. Oprah is a powerful force in the entertainment world, but, she is no Martin Luther King. Her stadium rousing speech lacks the ability to inspire a passion to act like the "I have a dream....!" IMHO.

I think Obama is pulling ahead because people are tired of Bill Clinton's B.S.
