This topic is going to Grow and Grow
about What will happen up to during and Beyond 2012 about the Olympic Buildup /Funding
and the First shots have been fired
In the Independent we Get this Fitting Review of the Brit contribution to the Closing ceremony ( and I agree with it 100%)

quote:
Chinese press and bloggers have been less than favourable about London's contribution to Beijing's Olympic closing ceremony – criticising contributions from the London Mayor Boris Johnson and David Beckham.

As the torch was put out in the "Bird's Nest" stadium, one blogger described Mr Johnson as "arrogant, rude and disrespectful" when he accepted the Olympic flag. There were mixed opinions too about the eight-minute cameo performance featuring a London bus, Beckham, the singer Leona Lewis, Led Zeppelin's guitarist Jimmy Page, dancers and singers.

The Titan Sports Daily contrasted the "neatness" of the Chinese performers with the "outrageous outfits" worn by the Britons. Unlike the Chinese custom which tends not to reveal their weakness to the outsiders, "the British seem to like to laugh about their stupidity in a funny way", it said.

"During the performance, when the London bus pulled over, all the passengers waiting for the bus rushed into the door at the same time, which truly damaged the British image," it added.

In the run-up to the Games, Beijing officials had run a campaign to "civilise" the city's inhabitants, teaching them of the importance of queuing in Western culture.

It also complained that Lewis and Page were not A-list celebrities. "Unfortunately, the singer and Jimmy Page are absolutely not famous enough to be known or recognised by millions of the Chinese audiences. As for David Beckham, he was supposed to kick the football towards the red circle in the centre of the 'Bird's Nest'. In the end, just like any of his penalties at a football match, he totally missed it. He kicked the ball to the left and dropped in the crowd, then was picked up by a lucky Chinese volunteer who would not let go of the ball."

The Daily First praised the use of a red London bus, but questioned whether the performance had anything to do with sport or the Olympic Games. Mr Johnson was also criticised for accepting the Olympic flag with one hand only.
Another article Re the Performers said WHO? Not even Household names,Leona Lewis a Whitney Houston soundalike (ex talent show winner)

How about getting to the site by Train?
Well the much lauded service promised from Gatwick Has severe funding issues already ...
quote:
West Sussex County Council said a report on future investment shows only £9million has been earmarked for improvements at Gatwick station instead of the £30million-plus that had been expected.

So expect old motballed rolling stock to be used and packed tight! Frown

As I say...much more to come and we are barely a week past the closing.....
One Forum comment elsewhere says "Pay for the game and Bankrupt the UK "... Robbing Peter to Pay Paul on a Mega scale
Somebody or Something is going to Kop it Big time, and I hope its not the usual Mugs, The British Public who suffer this time... Next 2? UK General Elections. Could be decided on the fallout from this, as well as the Current Credit Crunch Scenario!

Fred? In real life I have to show a smiling face to the world .And I'm a realist (Through my life experiences) I Try and get some Value out of bad situations . Always look on the Bright Positive Side...If it warrants Criticism then I'll pour scorn as hard as you
I stand up for my friends and strangers but cross me and I'm a bad enemy ...In fact there is a Guy local to me I have on my Death list 3 times over...Why? He put me in Hospital twice on unprovoked attacks, damaged my Hearing also had the Cheek to call the Cops out and Make out I was the Villain of the Peace The cops took no further action
The same Person has attacked other friends of mine on the estate .As far as I know he's not a Druggie , possibly does weed? But you Never Know? Roll Eyes
How he gets away with it I'm stumped
And I'd rather Talk my way out of the situation. And as a Lawyer you know I'll get the Lions share of the Blame if I was to use something as a weapon and Win
So for the interim whenever He crosses my Path I'll dream up a horrible demise
May never happen but the exercise does me good Smile

Same Goes for The Olympics It goes good I smile. It goes bad to worse (As I expect it will ) I'll Have a grin like the Cheshire cat.
and I'll Post on the Forums "Told you So!"
Oh and I'm not contributing to any Olympic themed Lottery Draw
The legacy of the Game will Be Like the Millenium ...Lot of near useless Items with Olympic stamped on them

Looking into my Crystal Ball after the 2012 Games It will go to the USA or Japan and go alternativly between the Countries
Why? They are the Only 2 countries with the Financial clout /Infrastructure
Middle East NO ...They have the Money But Conditions are wrong! They only win the occasional boxing medal
Only other Place in with a thin Chance is of course Russia (though the Money issue may be 50/50) Roll Eyes

Question ...when does the IOC Choose the Next Host Nation? Is it about 2011 giving a Years grace to sort matters. I'll Mark that date on My Calander and Tune in. And see Who's lumbered with it Next time.

And Fred? I always was Labelled "Sensitive" in School Reports ..in the Pat few years I've channeled that in the righr direction on the Forums
And NO I'm Not Mr (Somebody use my name?) Sensitive in Disguise Big Grin
