The reason that Bush won't budge , on any of his beliefs ,is really quite simple:

He can't run again...neither can Cheney[unless Cheney chose to run for President]

So neither of these guys has any reason to give in on anything the Democrats want.

They are going to simply run out the clock to 2008... and do as much damage and make as much profit as possible in the meantime.

So don't look for much cooperation from George or Dick ...it ain't gonna happen.

Even on items that they do seem to cooperate,they won't take affect until 2008.

The only thing that could hurt Cheney is if the Dems could somehow cancel all contracts to Halliburton for Iraq.
