Hi Gang:

Just another example of what a fine job Government will do managing the Automobile business.

Can't wait to see how they finally bury GM.

How was GM doing before the government lent them money? Were they doing a fine job? Would GM even be in business now had now the government intervened? How many jobs would have been lost by now had the government not stepped in? Please answer these questions, Hippo.

Hi Koz:

I believe companies that are inefficiently run deserve to fail...no bailouts for poorly run companies.

They had a Programme on lat Night about the British angle on the "Popular" scrappage scheme
and there were some strange but hard facts
in it
For instance 8 or more cars out of 10 vehicles purchased where Made abroad
In the remainder the amount of Locally made parts (By UK firms) amounted to just 2 to 5%
on average
And the sickening sights for Me were ) the 100's of serviceable cars going to the Crusher
Creating acres of pollution
A1) All the cars had a Valid MOT Test certificate to qualify for the discount (Its a Compulsory annual safety check)Eek
A2)The dealers would not accept cars without this Form !! (the real bangers/nonrunners)

Sickening sight #2
They Showed a Car ferry unloading HYUNDAI Cars Direct from South Korea
Full Load About 500+ cars They [HYUNDAI]estimate they will sell 20,000 cars in the UK and Western Europe For 2009-10
Now here's the Kicker In 2008-early 2009 ,their UK sales amounted to less than 300 cars Eek
The Politicians say its "saving UK Jobs" Roll Eyes
Only People I saw smiling were the workers driving the cars off the Boat and the car transporter drivers Who were laid off or on "Short time" earlier in the Year

PS There is now a shortage of Runabouts Thanks to this ill conceived scheme
