This Woman is in the Middle of a Major Police Investigation that Started with the apparent Abduction of one of her daughters and has ended up with Many of the close and extended Family up for various charges and Much of the local Neigborhood has also come under suspicion (ongoing)
Google Karen Matthews Read this article on the "efforts" she made to get her Kid Shannon Back ...and the Background to the story ...Which looked iffy to Me from Day 1
Almost the Whole of the Neighborhood must Be involved in the story 1 way or another! (big extended family) I live in a similar area myself(Lots of Big extended families) But Its nowhere near as bad as this town....The cheeky shopping trip to the local Supermarket to ask for Something is a Classic
Apparently the Money raised for the Family was for the Kids but Karen Matthews barged into the Co-Op supermarket and said words to the effect we want to do something for the kids and Neigbors as a thank you
And the store Manager said I'll square it with head office, and You can fill 2 Carts with what you need.
And what did they do they filled the 2 carts ok 1 was full of Rubbish snacks and the Other was laden high with Beer, wine and Cigarettes. All destined for Karen Matthews and Her current "squeeze" Her Kids might have got a packet of Potato chips? Frown She pocketed the Money Frown

Mom of the Year award for her? Roll Eyes

Wonder how much the News of the World, everybody's favourite Sunday scandal sheet (and the biggest selling Sunday paper in Britain) paid nice Mr Bretton for his 'story' [second link].

On BBC TV ,Rory Bremner's programme had two Royals referring to this news, one saying to the other that that family sounded as dysfunctional as their own Big Grin

In essence, the accusation is that this woman arranged for her daughter to disappear. She then rang 999 [911] to report this shocking loss.To say that she is incapable of thinking things through is something of an understatement. It's quite a scheme, not something done without some little thought, but it's hard to see what she'd ever gain from it. She got some airtime. She may have thought that our tabloids, such as the News of the World, would pay her for her account. But after that? Roll Eyes
